We have commenced the process to develop a new Strategic Plan for Ambulance Victoria, which will outline our vision, purpose, strategic outcomes and values for the following five years. While our core service is to bear emergency prehospital medical response we also yield a number of other services including non emergency patient transport, adult retrieval, emergency management and air ambulance. Tony’s extensive career in ambulance includes a range of senior clinical governance, education and operational roles in rural and metropolitan areas. This includes leadership and direction in the development and implementation of clinical quality and education services, emergency management, and clinical governance frameworks to ensure AV is positioned to face its give and tomorrow ambulance service delivery needs in the community. The Board draws upon the collective and considerable expertise of its members in health, clinical governance, community engagement, executive management, finance and auditing, industrial relations, law, and risk management. Ms Clarke has held senior positions in health and community services for over 40 years including community health, local government, state government and the private sector. We have now completed the consultation phase of the AV Strategic Plan development process. Our Health and Safety Strategy details Ambulance Victoria’s plans to improve the health, safety and healthy being of our people and describes the actions the organization will receive over three years from 2016 to 2019. Ambulance Victoria (AV) aims to improve the health of the community by providing tall quality prehospital care and medical transport. While Ambulance Victoria’s core role is as an emergency prehospital medical response provider, the role of non emergency transport is central to the ongoing effective delivery of ambulance services. AR uses doctors, paramedics and MICA paramedics to move critically sick adult patients between hospitals using road ambulances, planes and helicopters. This service includes transporting people from regional and rural regions for customary and urgent treatments such as chemotherapy and radiotherapy for cancer patients, and transporting patients from metropolitan hospitals to regional hospitals. We also fly patients with acute medical conditions requiring surgery, transfer injured patients from regional hospitals and retrieve critically sick patients from regional hospitals to specialist care, such as cardiac concern and intensive care. AR uses a mixed model of retrieval crewing, with paramedics, critical care nurses and physicians occupied together to yield the correct slick of protection for every patient. Reporting to the AR Clinical Lead, the primary role of these positions is to produce advanced clinical protection during acute inter hospital transfer of critically ailing patients.
